However, if <br /> the town board did disapprove the petition, the amendment to the <br /> zoning ordinance proposed by the petition, if adopted by the <br /> county board, does not become effective until the amendment has <br /> been referred to the town board for approval or disapproval . <br /> Since it seems quite plain,, in view of the past history of these <br /> rezoning attempts , that the town board will veto the rezoning <br /> proposal , I suggest it would be unfortunate if the county board <br /> would override the committee ' s recommendation to disapprove. The <br /> county board is less likely to override a committee determination <br /> made on the merits than it is if the committee ' s recommendation <br /> is compelled by law.
