after a quick review of the zoning code.First, the Davidson's have violated 10.16 by having
vehicles parked in the lawn which are not for personal transportation or recreation use.As the
property is located in a R-1 Residence District, this is in violation of 10.16. Second,
10.16(c)(6)provides that"a motor vehicle that is inoperable or unlicensed is considered as
salvage or junk and can only be stored in a licensed salvage recycling center".Pursuant to
this law,the two unlicensed and numerous inoperable vehicles should be immediately
removed from the property. Third, although 10.16(c)(8)permits the storage of one motor
vehicle of a type known as a"hobby car",such a vehicle"shall at all times be stored in an
enclosed building, secluded from public view". In the event one of the vehicles listed
below is a permitted"hobby car",the Davidson's should be required to store it in an enclosed
building rather than having it sit trying to hide next to the camper and a couple other
forementioned vehicles in their yard. Finally, the Davidson's are in the process of
constructing an extremely large shed which is reminiscent of an airplane hanger.Although I
am unsure of the exact height of the building,I believe it may exceed the 12' allowed under
Dane County Zoning Law 10.05(3)(b).I would appreciate it if someone checks the
specifications of the building to make sure it is in conformance with Dane County zoning
laws.
I think it is time for Hickory Meadows Subdivision to regain their respect for their neighbors
in basic consideration, common courtesy and observing local ordinances.
The Davidson's reckless disregard for their property has created a nuisance for many residing
in our small subdivision. While the Davidson's are very nice people, this situation has simply
become intolerable. Many neighbors throughout the years have commented on the condition
of the Davidson's yard but this situation needs to be rectified NOW.
In conclusion,I am a taxpayer and I have pride in my property.I do not think other people
have MORE rights than I do and can devalue my property by collecting junk all over their
yard. I urge the Zoning Board to enforce the law and cause the problem to be rectified.
Sincerely,
Concerned Resident and Taxpayer in Hickory Meadows
