They consider the area to be inappropri- <br /> ate for residential development since there are inadequate public <br /> recreational areas within easy access . In the Arboretum' s <br /> experience, residential developments adjacent to the Arboretum <br /> result in unauthorized use of the area for recreational purposes <br /> which is contrary to its intended purpose of providing a research <br /> and teaching facility for the University. <br />
