Licht, H. Dahlk, L. Anderson <br /> W. Boyd, M. Timm <br /> Also present: G. Kinderman, K. Connors, A. Wollenzien, J. Floeter, <br /> J. Zimmerman, J. Arts, Attorney Abbot, T.O'Connell <br /> Meeting called to order by H. Dahlk. <br /> Motion by Anderson, seconded by Timm to approve minutes of 2/18/85. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Subcommittees: None <br /> M. Timm reported that the Farm Progress Days Committee had met and <br /> discussed lot rentals and field layout. <br /> J. Zimmerman, UW Dept of Landscape Architecture reported on a project <br /> funded by the Conservation Aids program regarding a wetland study <br /> conducted in areas near Madison. Mr. Zimmerman proposed the re-establish- <br /> ment of a wetland wildlife habitat area in the Syene Road-Nine Springs Park <br /> area by flooding the area to eliminate undesirable species of plants and <br /> creating an environment for re-establishment of habitat conducive to wildlife. <br /> J. Floeter and A . Wollenzien reported on a proposed Extension program called <br /> Strategies For Survival (SOS) . Extension agents will receive additional <br /> training to work with rural families on current farm problems. Dane County <br /> has been allocated funds to hire a part time analyst to work with farmers <br /> and a second analyst to work with farm families on financial matters. <br /> Motion by Anderson, seconded by Dahlk that the Dane County UW-Extension <br /> Committee go on record as supporting the Formula Funding for Extension and <br /> urge strong support for the re-instatement of funds for the Expanded Food <br /> and Nutrition Program (EFNEP) for low income families in counties such as <br /> Dane. Motion carried. <br /> The Governors budget relating to issues affecting Dane County was discussed. <br /> These issues included conservation cost sharing, soil erosion, animal waste, <br /> land records, Farmland Preservation and others. <br /> Motion by Boyd, seconded by Anderson to support WDATCP budget ammenc:lment . <br /> in concept for additional funding for programs such as animal waste, soil <br /> erosion and county conservation aids. Motion carried. <br /> Proposed waste management plan was discussed. Mill-Indian Creek and Blue <br /> Mounds Creek watersheds were rated as the two areas that should receive <br /> increased attention. The proposed plan estimates that treating the critical <br /> areas in the watersheds would be approximately $130-170,000. <br /> Motion by Boyd, seconded by Anderson that the Draft Waste Mgt. Plan be <br /> adopted as received and the committee express their appreciation to the <br /> students and faculty of the Water Resources Management program of the <br /> 005-219/771 University of Wisconsin, Madison. Motion carried. <br />
