-'V
Please note that I speak for many, yet due to short preparation time
my remarks may not be all inclusive. There are a number of others present
plus 26 names on these petitions. I would hope that an opportunity will
be given to others to add their remarks.
KNOWN FACTSs
1. Center would cover 4000 sq ft.
2. 75 children initially, expandable to 150 children.
3. Law requires 35 sq ft indoors and 75 sq ft outdoors per child.
4. Estimated to be 15 full time employees.
5. Center would sink their own well for water.
6. Most children would arrive by private auto although some may be
bussed.
•
7. Children would range in age up to 11 and "Exceptional" children
would be included.
8. Children outdoor periods would be about 30 minutes for each
group of 25.
9. A looped drive is planned for loading and off loading.
lo. Activity of the center is projected from 630 AM to 6130 PM.
11. The Walbridge Condominium Assn today consists of only the
builders. The present 16 to 18 owners are not permitted to
be organized until a greater percentage of occupiany is achieved.
Therefore the owners have no voice in planning or decisions which
directly affect us.
HEALTH FACTORS
1. 75 children: = 75 autos or 300 trips on Bruns Ave.
150 children = 150 autos or 600 trips on Bruns Ave.
This traffic must fuse with American Family traffic at Walbridge
which already bottlenecks from Milwaukee St. The resultant
emission of exhaust fumes could be a hazard. Staggering traffic
hours does net decrease the number of cars, it only prolongs the
noise and exhaust hazards.
2. The area is currently served by private water wells which now
appear adequate. By projecting 150 children and center staff
usingbathrooms, kitchens, and fountains coupled with possible
dry years the water supply could be jeopardized.
3. A number of residents are elderly and some with heart problems.
The added aggravations of noise, traffic and confusion could be
detrimental. Worry that emergency vehicles could not reach us
promptly could be a mental hazard.
