NO. 643 PUBLIC
HEARING
My name is William Ziegler, I am Secretary and
Treasurer of Madison Crushing & Excavating Co. , Inc.
Pursuant to Section 10 .126 (2) (a) ( 8 ) of the Dane County
Ordinances, Madison Crushing, as the owner of a mineral
extraction operation, has submitted it 's application for
conditional use permit #643 for the operation of a limestone
quarry on the property legally described as the southerly
600 feet of the NE1/4, NE1/4 of Section 26, Town of Burke . "
Madison Crushing has occupied the above described
premises under the terms of the current long term lease
since 1978 . The owners of the above property are Harold
Ziegler, 14 Maple Wood Ln. , Madison, and Calvin Ziegler, 722
Ziegler Rd. , Madison.
History of the Company_
Madison Crushing operates a sand and limestone
operation and supplies these products to the Dane County
area, as well as being an excavating contractor. The company
has been a Wisconsin corporation since 1954 . Madison
Crushing had a C.U.P. to operate in the subject area plus an
additional 243 feet from 1976-1984, but due to various
notification problems, this permit expired. It is the
opinion of the company that C.U.P. #643 is not an expansion,
but a request to continue to operate as we have been granted
in the past.
/.3
