Mr. Bill Fleck
May 27, 1988
Page 2
"THE PROPOSAV
Mineral extraction of clay and underlying sandy-till soil is
proposed. Clay is from 2 to 8-feet deep and has been tested and is
suitable for construction on nearby jobs. Sandy-till soil is from
10 to 20-feet deep and is also suitable as clean fill on nearby
jobs.
▪ Soil will be excavated and loaded for removal and taken out to the
existing access road which extends to Hwy. 14 (See Figure 3).
Operations will commence on approximately July 1, 1988 and end with
final reclamation on or about October 1, 1989. Reclamation will
include retopsoiling and seeding, and removal of the silt control
berm.
• Topsoil will be saved and placed back on the excavated area, and
final use will be farmland. Existing use was farmland and wooded
area. The trees will be salvaged as firewood over time as the
woods are removed.
No water will be used in the operations.
▪ The land will be graded to drain in a similar pattern as exists
today, only the land will be flatter from 1% to 3:1 slopes. During
operations a silt control berm will be used along the lower
portions of the site as shown on Figure 3. This will protect the
wetlands.
The enclosed figures show the:
- location of operation
- excavation area and final contours
- there are no residences within 600-feet
- the only surface water in the area is a drainage ditch
approximately 400-feet south of the extraction area. This
ditch will be protected from siltation by the silt control
berm. This ditch downstream 1 to 2 miles runs into Black
Earth Creek.
- the wetland south of the excavation area as shown on Figure 3
will be avoided, and protected from siltation by the silt
control berm.
- access will be from the west onto an existing access road as
shown on Figure 3.
1169.01:REFUSE:fleck:05/24/88
INC.
