•
6. Purchasers of lands zoned Agricultural Conservancy in the Town of Dunn,
do so with full understanding that such purchases provide for the intended
purposes of such conservancy zoning, and not for purposes excluded by such
zoning. It is by such zoning that farmers have been able to buy land in the
Town of Dunn in recent years. For a decade prior to such conservancy zoning,
farmers could not afford to compete with speculative purchasers and thus
simply did not buy land, but became renters instead. Thus, agricultural
conservancy zoning must be maintained in the Town as a matter of course, in
order to protect the Town's and the County's ability to provide for farms,
farmlands, and the production of food and forage crops.
Given these consideration, I urge the Committe to DENY the request for a
rezoning of land adjacent to Lower Mud Lake Wetlands from A-1 Conservancy to
RH-3 as presented in Petion No. 3815.
Sincerely yours,
cam,, g .
Calvin B.
