June 21, 1999 <br /> Zoning & Natural Resources Committee <br /> Rm 116 - City County Building <br /> Madison WI 53809 <br /> Re: CUP Application #1575 <br /> Mendota Trust/Limited family business <br /> Dear Committee Members, <br /> We own the farm adjacent to the parcel which is the subject of the CUP Application #1575. <br /> We respectfully, but strenuously, object to this application for the following reasons: <br /> - This area is not appropriate for retail business. This parcel, and our farm, are located <br /> on a short, twisty section of Klevenville-Riley Road, and all current use is agricultural <br /> or residential. <br /> A dog kennel,'is a very noisy business, and ours is a very quiet area. <br /> - The parcel in question is a narrow wedge, sandwiched between Klevenville-Riley Road <br /> and the Military Ridge trail. The bike trail is well-travelled, by bicyclists, runners, <br /> walkers and snowmobilers. With a kennel adjacent to the trail, the constant <br /> traffic is sure to cause an auditory nightmare for both trail-users and neighbors. <br /> The sight-lines on the road are very poor. This parcel has a sizeable hump in <br /> its middle, and it is difficult to see oncoming traffic. With a commercial enterprise, <br /> the traffic danger would increase all the more. <br /> - Every neighbor within sight of this parcel thinks this CUP is a bad idea. <br /> Some of their letters are attached -- the remainder will likely wait for the Springdale <br /> Township public hearing to voice their concerns. <br /> Thank you for considering these objections. <br /> Sincerely,/AA.
