THOMAS MEYER & MARY GREENLAW MEYER
8554 KL.EVENVIL.LE-RILEY ROAD
MouNT HOREB,WISCONSIN 53572
June 21, 1999
Zoning and Natural Resources Committee
Board of Supervisors
Dane County
Dear Committee Members:
We are writing in reference to Item #32 on the agenda of the June 22, 1999 meeting of
the Dane County Zoning and Natural Resources Committee. The committee is
considering the request of applicant Donald Anderson/Mendota Trust for Conditional
Use Permit #1575 to operate a dog boarding and grooming business with limited retail
sales on property located on Klevenville-Riley Road, NE1/4 Section 3, Town of
Springdale. Our property is located approximately 1500'north of the proposed
business.
We wish to register our strong opposition to the petition based on the following:
1) A boarding operation will generate excessive noise from barking dogs. The
location of the proposed business is on a knoll, in an open landscape, with few
trees or other sound barriers between it and nearby residences.
2) Establishment of a business at this location is not in keeping with the rural
residential/agricultural character of the area.
3) A dog boarding business will interfere with the public's use and enjoyment of the
Military Ridge State Trail, which is adjacent to the property and forms its south
boundary.
We respectfully request that the committee deny the conditional use permit for this
property. Thank you for your consideration.
Sin ely,
Thomas A. M er
711
Mary
