Dane County Planning and Development
June 30, 1999
Page Two
The properties to the east and west of our location are currently
zoned C-1 Commercial District. However, they are currently used
as single family residences. To the south the land is being
farmed and is agricultural field. The Klevenville-Riley Road is
the north boundary line of our property. On the north side of
the road is the Military Ridge Bike Trail and area which is owned
by the Department of Natural Resources which is primarily marsh
land.
The new garage is currently under construction. We anticipate
the structure to be completed by the end of August when we plan
to hold the Riley Fest. Other activities will follow. Since the
uses are primarily summer activities, the greatest use will occur
during the summer months.
We currently employ three people (in addition to ourselves) and
do not expect to employ more (except on a temporary basis) .
Most of the activities which will be conducted are summer
activities and most will be weekend activities. Although some
volleyball and horseshoe leagues may be held during the work
week, we do not anticipate the activity to extend beyond 10: 00
p.m. During the weekend, during Riley Fest and/or during the
outdoor bluegrass jam sessions, the activities may extend later
in the evening. State law limits the hours of tavern operations
and we would limit the activities accordingly.
We feel that the existing site is very suitable for the
activities requested. We have carried on the Riley Fest and the
bluegrass jam sessions for several years and have done so without
incident. The site is large and can accommodate the activities
and uses requested. Parking and sanitary facilities are adequate
and in compliance with regulations.
Very truly yours,
James and Nancy Murphy
cc: Attorney Paul S. Taylor
