` r <br /> The clerk of the town, village or city in which the greatest number of <br /> electors reside shall act as clerk of the election and declaration of <br /> candidacy shall be filed with him. He shall cause notice of the elec- <br /> tion to be given as provided by the statutes which govern municipal <br /> elections. Such clerk shall have charge of the election and provide <br /> all necessary materials and equipment to conduct the same in a manner <br /> similar to that used for conducting muncipal elections.
