They are proposing to stabilize the banks by placing rock riprap one to
two feet above the Ordinary High Water Mark(OWHM) and seeding grasses and forbs above
the OHWM.
This streambank stabilization project is designed and will be constructed under the NRCS
Standard 580 for shoreline and streambank protection
Hydrologic & Hydraulic computations have been performed on the watershed and the proposed
design is stable for flows up to the 100 year flood event.
III. Access to the sites will
be from the gravel farmstead driveway.
2. Tree removal and grubbing of stumps will be required in along the area where riprap is
proposed. Stumps and trees located outside this area will not be removed.
3. Erosion control will be accomplished by staging this project into four sections. All the
work on one section of rock riprap including seeding and mulching will be completed
before moving on to the next section of riprap.
4. All sections of rock riprap construction will be completed within 1 week weather
permitting. For each section:
a. Remove undesirable trees and stumps.
b. Shape the bank to a 2:1 slope or flatter. Spoil will be placed outside the wetland
and wetland indicator areas as defined in the construction plan and spread 3 to 6
inches thick in pasture or row crop fields. Wetlands are present adjacent to the
most upstream site.
