G � <br /> ZONING ADMINISTRATOR <br /> • <br /> ' DEFINITION <br /> Under general administrative direction of the Dane County Agriculture-Zoning : <br /> , ,; Committee, to administer and enforce the County zoning. ordinance; to implements <br /> the County road naming and rural numbering ordinance; to plan, organize and <br /> direct the activities of the Zoning department; and to do related work as <br /> required. <br /> ' EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> Reviews applications and issues for zoning sign installation, mineral <br /> extraction and erosion control; provides technical advice to those whose <br /> applications do not conform to ordinance requirements; supervises and assists; <br /> in the preparation of base maps and the assignment of numbers under the rurali <br /> numbering ordinance; supervises and assists in maintaining current map and <br /> building number information for county and municipal departments providing <br /> - emergency services throughout the county; supervises and assists in <br /> maintenance of zoning maps; provides technical advice to engineers, surveyors;, <br /> architects, developers and builders; processes: petitions for ordinance <br /> amendments and variances, applications for conditional use permits and special - <br /> exception permits; drafts zoning ordinance amendments; reviews and recommends <br /> changes in ordinances; prepares notices for public hearings; coordinates <br /> activities with other governmental units; works closely with Wisconsin <br /> Department of Natural Resources in the area of pollution control, shoreland <br /> and flood plain management; supervises and assists in the inspection of <br /> buildings and projects under construction for compliance with county <br /> • ordinances; investigates complaints of ordinance violations and takes j =* <br /> „ appropriate legal action; review applications for Farmland Preservation ; <br /> Agreements for compliance with both state law and county standards; and <br /> r certify land for zoning and planning compliance for farm owners who are <br /> applying for tax benefits. <br /> IT- EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS <br /> Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from <br /> college with a degree in civil engineering, urban/regional planning, soil <br /> science, landscape architecture or closely related field and three years <br /> progressively responsible experience in zoning and related code enforcement <br /> activities. <br /> Knowledges and Abilities: Knowledge of county, municipal and state codes and <br /> ordinances applicable to zoning administration; ability to analyze and <br /> interpret zoning ordinances, building codes and other local .ordinances; <br /> ability to review and interpret plans and specifications for accuracy, <br /> feasibility and compliance with zoning regulations; knowledge of legal <br /> descriptions of real property and code requirements relating to placement of <br /> structures on the property; ability to prepare reports and to present facts <br /> clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; ability to select train, and <br /> direct the activities of zoning department staff; ability to establish .and <br /> maintain effective working relations with staff, public officials and the <br /> general public.• <br /> 11/21/83/A/1020 p 50 <br /> • <br /> s <br />
