ARTICLE 5: Section 10 . 01 ( 36m) is created to read as follows: <br /> ( 36m) Mineral Extraction. Quarrying or excavation of sand, <br /> gravel , limestone, earth, soil or other mineral resources . This <br /> definition includes (when done in connection with mineral <br /> extraction) accessory uses such as washing, crushing and other <br /> - processing of the materials, the erection of structures and the <br /> installation or storage, or both, of the necessary machinery and <br /> equipment used in the mineral extraction operation. Production <br /> of asphalt or concrete is not to be considered part of a mineral <br /> extraction operation. <br /> (a) The following uses are not part of a mineral extraction <br /> operation: site preparation for residential or commmercial plats, <br /> construction or landscaping projects, soil conservation <br /> practices, stream, lake or shoreline protection, agricultural <br /> land leveling projects if materials are not removed from the <br /> property and similar uses. <br /> [EXPLANATION: This amendment creates a definition for the phrase <br /> 'mineral extraction. A business that sells seed on a retail or <br /> wholesale basis.
