S1CTION' 10.36; 10.40; 10.41, 10;42 10.36 AMENDMENTS. (a) Amendments to this section may be. made as provided by 10.24 of the Zoning Or- dinance. (b) Copies of any amendment proposed to the county board of supervisors .referred by that board to the. county zoning agency shall be forwarded by the county zoning agency, together with the first notice the public .hearing thereon, to the main office and appropriate regional office of -the Division of Environmental Protection. (c) Amendments shall be' approved by. the Department, of Natural Resources before be- coming effective: 10.40: SIGNS • • • (1) Purpose: The purpose of this section is to provide the minimum regulations, pro- visions and requirements to insure the public safety, general.welfare and preserve _, the• scenic beauty by 'regulating and dontrolling the installation of signs arid. other advertising structures. . 10.41 ADVERTISING,• B:ILLBOARDS AND POSTERBOARD SIGNS (1) Site of signs (a) Sign area shall not exceed 300 square feet. Trim area shall not exceed 25% Of sign area. (2) Location of signs (a) Signs may be placed at .the right-of-way line of any class A or B highway except -- that signs shall not be permitted between the points of tangency .on a curve to the 'right of any highway. • (b) Signs shall not be permitted within 300 feet of -any intersection. The beginning of a curve on a highway interchange ramp or the beginning of a curved access to an intersection shall be considered as the intersection for the purpose of sign loca- tion. (3) Distance between signs • (a) One sign face shall be. permitted at any location and the distance" between signs shall be 500 feet. ('b) Back to back signs shall be permitted except' that each sign face shall require a • separate permit. • (4) Height of sign . (a) Signs shall not exceed 35 feet in height above the mean centerline grade of the adjacent highway. (5) Permitted zoning districts (a) C-1 Commercial and 'Light Manufacturing District (b) C-2-Commercial and Light Manufacturing District (c) M-1 Industrial District 10.42 DIRECTORY SIGNS- (1) Size of signs • (a) Sign area shall not exceed 96 square' feet. Trim area shall not exceed 20% of the sign area. ' (b) Not more than 50% of the sign area shall be devoted to .advertising a product or service not exclusively available at the premises or location which the sign directs attention to. • (2) 'Location of signs • (a) Signs may be placed at the right-of-way line of any class A, B or C highway ex- cept that signs shall not be permitted between the points of tangency on-a curve to the right of any highway. - '42 -
