• SECTION 10.01 • (47) Sign (Directory) : A sign which .directs attention to a business, service or enter- tainment. at a specific location or premises other than the premises or location at which the sign. is. located. (48) Sign (On Premise): A sign which .indicates the name of the establishment where the sign is. located or to which it is affixed and which also •may direct attention to: a product not exclusively related to the premises where such sign is located or to which it 'is affixed, but said Or offered upon such premises. (49) Sign (Home Occupation): A sign which directs attention to a home occupation per- . - • mitted on the .premises to which the sign is affixed. (50) Sign (Real Estate): A sign which directs attention to real estate which is.for sale, lease, rent or trade: • (51) Sign (Development): A sign whichdirects .attention:to a -future building or to a building under construction. (52) Sign (Temporary) : A sign which directs attention to an event to be held at a speci- fic..time and place. During election campaigns, posters or signs on behalf of candidates for public offices or on behalf of a political belief shall also be considered as temporary signs. (53) Sign (Crop Demonstration): A Sign' used to designate a variety, brand or other. identification of a field crop, fertilizer, herbicide, . pesticide being grown .or used at a specific location. • (54) Slaughter House: Any building or premises used commercially for the killing or dressing of cattle; sheep, swine, goats or horses, for human consumption and the storage, freezing and curing of meat and the preparation. of meat products. . (55) Story: The vertical distance of a building included between the surface of any floor and the, floor next above it, or if there be no floor above it, thenthe space. between such floor and the ceiling, provided that a basement -shall not be considered a story. ' (56) Story, Half: A story under a 'gable, hip or mansard roof, the wall plates of which on at least two sides are not more than two bet above the floor of such story. (57) Street: A public or private 'thoroughfare which affords primary means of access to abutting property is..a street to that property for the purposes of this ordinance, except driveways to buildings. A driveway to a farm building shall not be considered . a street for the purpose of determining .setback, even though ,such driveway may have been designated a town road for the purpose of maintenance. (58) Street Line: The dividing line between the street and the lot. (59) Structure: Anything erected or constructed,'. the use' of- which requires more or less permanent location on the ground. Telephone, telegraph, power poles and lines and ' • other transmission and communication 'lines shall be' considered structures for the • purpose' of determining setback from highways. • (60) Structural Alteration ,Any change in-the supporting members of .a building, such as the- bearing walls or °partitions, columns, beams or girders, excepting such altera- tions as may be necessary for.-the• safety of the building. _ 5 - .
