SECTION 10.01
<br /> (49) Sign (Home Occupation): A sign which directs attention to a home occupation permitted on the premises to
<br /> which the sign is affixed.
<br /> (50) Sign (Real Estate): A sign which directs attention to real estate which is for sale, lease, rent or trade.
<br /> (51) Sign (Development): A sign which directs attention to a future building or to a building under con-
<br /> struction.
<br /> (52) Sign (Temporary): A sign which directs attention to an event to be held at a specific time and place.
<br /> During election campaigns, posters or signs on behalf of candidates for public offices or on behalf of a politi-
<br /> cal belief shall also be considered as temporary signs.
<br /> (53) Sign (Crop Demonstration): A sign used to designate a.variety, brand or other indentification of a field
<br /> crop, fertilizer, herbicide, pesticide being grown or used at a specific location.
<br /> (54) Slaughter House: Any building or premises used commercially for the killing or dressing of cattle, sheep,
<br /> swine, goats or horses, for human consumption and the storage, freezing and curing of meat and the preparation
<br /> of meat products.
<br /> (55) Story: The vertical distance of a building included between the surface of any floor and the floor next
<br /> above it, or if there be no floor above it, then the space between such floor and the ceiling, provided that a
<br /> basement shall not be considered a story.
<br /> •
<br /> (56) Story, Half: A story under a gable, hip or mansard roof, the wall plates of which on at least two sides
<br /> are not more than two feet above the floor of such story.
<br /> (57) Street: A public or private thoroughfare which affords primary means of access to abutting property is a
<br /> street to that property for the purposes of-this ordinance, except driveways to buildings. A driveway to a
<br /> farm building shall not be considered a street for the purpose of determining setback, even though such driveway
<br /> may have been designated a town road for the purpose of maintenance.
<br /> (58) Street Line: The dividing line between the street and the lot.
<br /> (59) Structure : Anything erected or constructed, the use of which requires more or less permanent location on
<br /> the ground. Telephone. telegraph, power poles and lines and other transmission and communication lines shall be
<br /> considered structures for the purpose of determining setback from highways.
<br /> (60) Structural Alteration: Any change in the supporting members of a builditg, such as the bearing walls or
<br /> partitions, columns, beams or girders, excepting such alterations as may be necessary for the safety of the
<br /> building.
<br /> (61) Tavern: A building or part of the building open to the public, where fermented malt beverages and/or
<br /> intoxicating liquors are sold at retail for consumption on the premises. The following shall not be considered
<br /> a tavern: a restaurant where such beverages are sold only at tables,ffil only in conjunction with meals) a club
<br /> not open to the public where such beverages are sold in conjunction with the operation of the club; premises -
<br /> where malt beverages are sold by established organizations in conjunction with the operation of a picnic, fair
<br /> or other amusement enterprise. -
<br /> (61a) Terminal, truck or bus: Buildings or land which is used for the storage of trucks, semi-tractors,
<br /> semi-trailers or buses used in connection with the transporting of passengers or freight. The storage of not
<br /> more than one truck, the capacity of which does not exceed 2A tons, shall not be deemed a truck terminal.
<br /> (62) Tourist Camp: An area or premises on which are located permanent buildings, either single cabins or
<br /> buildings comprising two or more units under one roof, together with accessory buildings,for temporary accomo-
<br /> dation of tourists, but not for permanent occupancy except the owner or occupant of the premises or his employees.
<br /> (63) Trailer Camp: - An area or premises on which is provided space for the temporary accomodation of trailers
<br /> for tourists, together with the necessary accessory buildings, but not for permanent occupancy.
<br /> (64) Vision Clearance Triangle: Shall be the area in each quadrant of an intersection which is abounded by the
<br /> right-of-way lines of the highways or streets and a vision clearance setback line connecting points on each
<br /> right-of-way line which are located a distance back from the intersection equal to the setback required oaths
<br /> road or highway. •
<br /> (65) Yard: A space on a lot on which a building is situated, unoccupied except as otherwise provided inith4s
<br /> ordinance, open and unobstructed from the ground to the sky.
<br /> (66) Yard, Roar: An open space, unoccupied except for accessory buildings, extending from the rear line of the
<br /> building to the rear lot line for the entire width of the lot. On lake shore or water front lots the water front
<br /> end of the lot shall be deemed the rear end of the lot for the purpose of computing rear yard and setback re-
<br /> quired by this ordinance.
<br /> (67) Yard, Side: A yard or open space on each side of the main building extending from the side wall of the
<br /> building to the side lot line and from the front lot line to the rear yard. -
<br /> Section 3. Section II and XII of the ordinance of July 20, 1938, the title to which is recited in the title to
<br /> this ordinance, are hereby repealed. -4-
