G ORDINANCE <br />DANEE C OI)I, T1, u;TS C GidS 1N <br />Wisconsin State Planning Board <br />June 17., 1 93 8 <br />A Zoning Ordinance enacted pursuant to,the provisions of Sections 59.97 and <br />59.95 of the statutes and provic',ing penalties for the violation of its provisions. <br />The Board of Supervisors of Dade County does ordain_ as follows: <br />SECTION I. DEFINITI0NITS <br />For the purposes of this ordinance, certain words and terms are defined as <br />follows: <br />Words used in the present tense include the future, words in the singular <br />number include the plural number and words in the plural nLunber include the <br />singular number; the word "building" includes the word "structure ", the word <br />"shall" is mandatory and not directory. <br />Accessory Building: A supplemental building or portions of the main building, <br />the use of which is incidental to the main building. <br />Boardinghouse: A building other than a hotel where meals are sold, pursuant <br />to previous arrangement and not to anyone who my apply, for five (5) or more <br />persons not members of the family. <br />Building: Ai-iythino constructed and designed to stand more or less permanently <br />and occupying a space of land. When a building is separated by divisions walls, <br />without openings, iron the ground up, each portion.of such building shall be <br />deemed a separate building. <br />Buildings ' Front of: The side of a building which faces toward the principal <br />road, street, highway or way serving the same. <br />Club: An association or group of persons organized for some common purpose. <br />but not including such association or groups organized to render a service which <br />is customarily carried on as a business. <br />District: A part or parts of Dane County for which the regulations relating <br />to the use of land and buildings are uniform. <br />Dwelling, Single Family: A detachod ,building designed for and occupied ox= <br />elusively by one (1) family. <br />Dwelling, Multiple Family: A building or portions thereof used or intended <br />to be used by two (2) or more faaniliesa J <br />Family: Several individuals living together and cooking; on the premises as a <br />single housekeeping unit, together with all -necossarj employees of the family. <br />Garage, Public: A building or portion thereof used for the housing or care <br />of more than three (3) self-propelled vehicles or -usere any such -vehicles are <br />equipped or repaired for remuneration or kopt for hire. <br />Home Occupation: A gainful occupation_ conducted by members of the family <br />only, within its place of residence, provided that the space used is incidental <br />to residential use and that no article is sold or offered for sale excopt such <br />as is produced by such home occupations. <br />Lodging House: A building other than a hotel, whoro lodging only is provided <br />for compensation pursuant to previous arrangement and not to anyone who may <br />apply for five (5) or more persons not members of the family. <br />Non - conforming Use: A building or promises occupied by a use that does not <br />conform to the regulations of the district ir_which it is located. <br />Roadside Stand: A farm structure used or intended to bo.used solely by tho <br />oi,j -_or or tenant of the farm on which it is located for the sale of only the <br />seasonal farm products of the imxaodiatc locality in which such roadside stand <br />is located. <br />Setback Lines: Limes establishod adjacent to highways for the purpose of <br />defining limits within_ which no building or structure or any part thereof shall <br />be erected or permanently i aintainod. `17itll in a setback line" means between the <br />setback line and the highway ri ght of way. <br />
