• <br /> DANE COUNTY ZONING ORDINANCE <br /> BEING CHAPTER 10 OF THE ORDINANCES OF DANE COUNTY <br /> An ordinance to alter, supplement and change the boundaries and regulations contain d in <br /> that certain ordinance adopted by the Dane County Board of Supervisors on July 20, 1938, as <br /> amended to and including October 25, 1949, which said ordinance is entitled "A.zoning ordi <br /> nance enacted pursuant to the provisions of Sections 59.97 and 59.99 of the statutes and pro- <br /> viding penalties for the violation of its provisions <br /> The Dane County Board of Supervisors does ordain as follows: <br /> 'Section 1. That certain ordinance adopted by the County Board of Supervisors of Dane County <br /> on July 20, 1938, as amended, the title to which is recited in the title to this ordinance, shall <br /> hereafter be known and numbered as Chapter 10, Dane County Ordinances, and as so entitled <br /> and numbered said title- is amended to read as f Blows: <br /> An ordinance, to be known as Chapter 10, Dane County Ordinances, regulating, restricting <br /> and determining the location of trades and industries, the location, height, bulk, number of stor- <br /> ies, and size of buildings and other str utures, the percentage of lot which may be occupied., <br /> the size of yards and other open spaces, the density of population,, the location of buildings - <br /> designed for specific uses; -the areas along natural water courses, streams and creeks in which <br /> trades and industries and the -location 1,f buildings for specific uses may be prohibited; estab- <br /> lishing setback lines; and establishing districts of such number, shape and area deemed best <br /> suited to carry out the purposes of this ordinance as it applies.to lands outside the limits of <br /> incorporated_cities and villages in Dane County; and providing penalties, pursuant to the author- <br /> ity of Sections 59.97 and 59:99,.Wisconsin Statutes. - <br /> Section 2. Section 1 of the ordinance of July'20, '1938;:.the title to -which is recited in the <br /> title to this ordinance is renumbered:to be Secti m '10.01, Dane County Ordinances, and as so <br /> renumbered is amende d to 'read; - <br /> 10.01 DEFINIITION:S • <br /> For the purposes of this ordinance certain terms used herein are defined as follows: any <br /> words not defined herein shall be construed as defined in the Wisconsin Building Code: <br /> (1) Accessory Building: A subordinate or supplemental building, the use of which is inci- <br /> dental to that áf the main building on the same.lot or the use of the premies on which it is <br /> located. <br /> (2) Accessory Use: A use customarily incident and accessory to the principal use-of a lot or <br /> parcel, or building or,structure on the same lot or parcel as the principal use. <br /> (3) Block: That property abutting on one side of a street between the nearest intersecting <br /> streets, railroad right of way or other natural barriers; providing, however, that Where a 'street <br /> curves so that any two chords thereof form an angle of one hundred twenty (120) degrees or less, <br /> measured on the lot side, such curve shall be construed as a connecting street. <br /> (4) Boarding House: A building or premises where meals are served by pre-arrangement for <br /> definite periods of time.for'compensation for five (5) or more persons, but not exceeding twenty <br /> (20) person, not open to transients, in contradistinction to hotels and restaurants open to'tran- <br /> sients. <br /> (5) Building: Anything constructed or erected, the use of which requires more or less perma- <br /> nentlocation on the ground. The building area of a building shall be that area bounded by the <br /> exterior dimensions of•the outer wall at the ground line. Telephone,'telegraph and power poles <br /> and lines shall not be considered buildings for the purposes of this ordinance.• <br /> (6) Building Height:' The vertical distance, measured from the mean elevation of the finished <br /> grade along the front of the building to the highest point on the roof for flat roofs; to the mean <br /> height level between the eaves and the ridge for gable and'hip roofs; to the deck line for man- <br /> sard roofs. <br /> -1- <br />
