Section10.01 Definitions <br /> • <br /> (7) Building Site Area: The ground area of a buildingor buildings, together with all open <br /> spaces, required by this ordinance. <br /> (8) Club: An association for some common purpose, but not including agroup organized for or <br /> which is actually engaged in renderging a service which is customarily carried on as a business. <br /> A road house or tavern shall not be construed as a club. <br /> (9) Dwelling: <br /> (a) Single Family Dwelling: A building designed for and occupied exclusively as a residence <br /> for one family. <br /> (b) Multiple Family Dwelling:A building designed for or intended to be used by two or more <br /> families living independently of each other. <br /> (10) Family: Any number of individuals related by blood or marriage, ornot to exceed five <br /> (5) persons not so related, living together on the premises as a single housekeeing unit, in- <br /> cluding any domestic servants. <br /> (11) Garage, Private: An accessory building or accessory portion of the main building, used, <br /> or designed or intended to be used for the storage of private motor vehicles belonging to the <br /> family or families resident on the premises, and in which no business, service or industry con- <br /> nected directly orliindirectly witkl motor:,vehicles._is.carried[o.n,.a:nd:,ptovide.d:that not more than <br /> one-ahfl of the space may be rented for the private vehicles of persons not resident on the <br /> premises, except that all of the space in a garage having a capacity of not more than two cars <br /> may be so rented. Not more than one commercial vehicle may be stored in such garage and such <br /> commercial vehicle shall not exceed two and one-half (21/2) tons capacity and must belong to,a <br /> family or member of a family resident on the premises. <br /> (12) Garage, Public: Any building," structure or premises used for the repair, servicing or <br /> storage of motor vehicles for the general public. No building or premises used for the sale, dis- <br /> play for sale, of motor vehicles or trailers, where no repairs or mechanical work is done, shall <br /> be considered a public garage for the purposes of this ordinance. <br /> (13) Home Occupation: Any occupation for gain or profit conducted only by members of the <br /> family resident upon the premises provided that no articles may be sold or offered for sale ex- <br /> cept that produced on the premies, and no article may be displayed so as to be visible from the <br /> street or highway. Home occupations may include doctors and dentists, artists,. music teachers, <br /> weaving, knitting, dressmaking and similar activities but shall not include such occupations as <br /> barber shops and beauty parlors, or the buyingand selling of any article. <br /> (14) Hotel: A building in which board and lodging are prodided to the transient public for <br /> compensation. <br /> (15) Lodging House;. A building in which lodging accomodations are provided by previous <br /> arrangement for definite periods of time to tau. (4) or more but not to exceed twelve (12) indivi- <br /> duals not members of the family. <br /> (16)-Lot: A parcel of land occupied or intended to be occupied by one building and its ac- <br /> ce ssory buildings or uses, including open spaces required by this ordinance. A lot may be a <br /> parcel designated in a plat or described in a conveyance recorded in the office of the register of <br /> deeds, or any part of a larger parcel when such part complies with the requireme1s of this <br /> ordinance as to width and area for the district in which it is located. No lands included in any <br /> street, highway or railroad right of way shall be included in computing lot area. - <br /> (17) :Lot,.Corner: A lot located at the intersection of two streets, any two corners of which <br /> form an angle of one hundred twenty (120) degrees or less, or is bounded by-a curved street any <br /> two chords of which on the inside of the curve form an angle of one hundred twenty (120) degrees <br /> or less. <br /> -2- <br />
