• <br /> Section 10.01 Definitions <br /> (6) Building Height: The vertical distance, measured from the mean elevation of the <br /> finished. grade along the front of the building to- the highest point on the roof for <br /> flat roofs:. to the mean height level between the eaves and the ridge for gable and hip ' <br /> roofs; to the deck line for mansard roofs. <br /> (7) Building Site Area: The ground area of a building or buildings, together with <br /> aal open spaces, 'as required by this .ordinance, • • <br /> (8) Club: An association for some common pdrpose,' but not including a •group or- <br /> ganized- for or which is actually engaged in rendering a service which is customarily <br /> carried on as a business.. A .road house or tavern shall not be construed as a club. <br /> (9) Dwelling <br /> (a) Single Family Dwelling: A building designed.for and occupied exclusively as a <br /> residence for one family, •- <br /> (b) Multiple Family. Dwelling: A building designed. for or intended to be used by <br /> • two or more families living independently of each other. <br /> . (10)• Family: Any number of individuals related by blood or marriage, or not to <br /> • exceed five' .(5) Persons not so related, living together on the premises as a single <br /> housekeeping unit, .including any domestic servants. <br /> (11) Garage, Private: An accessory building or accessory portion of the main build- <br /> ing used, or designed or intended, to be used for the storage or private motor vehi- <br /> cles belonging to the family or families resident on the premises, and in which no <br /> business, service or industry connected directly or indirectly with motor vehicles is <br /> carried on, and provided that not more than one-half of the space may be rented for <br /> . the private vehicles of persons 'not' resident'on' the premises, except that all of the <br /> space in a garage having a capacity of not more than two cars may be so rented. Not <br /> more than one commercial vehicle be stored in such garage and such commercial <br /> vehicle shall not exceed two and one-half (234) tons capacity and must belong to a <br /> family or member of• a family resident on-the premises. <br /> (12) Garage,. Public: .Any building, 'structure or premises used for the repair, ser- <br /> vicing or storage of motor vehicles for the general public No building or premises , • <br /> used for the' sale, display for sale„ of motor vehicles or trailers, where no repairs <br /> or mechanical work is •done,, shall be considered a public garage for the purposes of <br /> this ordinance.. 4 <br /> (13) Home Occupation: Any occupation for gain or profit conducted only by members <br /> of the family resident upon the premises provided that no articles may be sold or <br /> offered for sale .except that produced on ,the premises;, and-no article may be display- <br /> ed so as to be visible from the street or highway. Home occupations may include doc- <br /> tors and dentists, artists, music teachers, weaving, knitting, dressmaking, and- simi- <br /> lar activities; but shall not include such occupations as barber shops and beauty par <br /> lgrs,. or the buying and selling of any article. <br /> (14) Hotel: A building in which board and lodging is provided to the transient pub- <br /> lic for compensation. <br /> • <br /> (15) Lodging House: A 'building in which lodging accomodations- are offered by pre- <br /> arragement and.for definite periods of time to 'four (4Y Or more, but nc.t to exceed <br /> twelve (12) individuals, not members of the family... <br /> (16) Lot:: A parcel of land occupied or intended to be occupied by one building and <br /> its accessory buildings or uses, including open: spaces required by this ordinance. A <br /> lot may be a parcel' designated in a plat, or described in a conveyance recorded in <br /> the office of the regiater of deeds, or any part of a parger parcel.,when such part <br /> complies with the requirements of this ordinance as to width and area'•for the dis- <br /> trict in which it' is located. No lands included in any streets, highway or railroad <br /> right of- way shall be inriuded in computing lot area. <br /> (17) Lot, Corner: A lot located a,t.the intersection of two streets, any two corners <br /> of which form an angle of one hundred twenty (120), degrees or less, or is bounded by <br /> a curved street any two chords of which, on the inside of;the, curve, form an angle of <br /> one hundred twenty (120) degrees or less. <br /> (18) Lot..
