I too agree voice mail can be a 'cat and
mouse' game however rather than leaving my questions on your voice mail I decided it
would be best to put them in writing, since I will most likely need a written response
anyway.
Enclosed is a copy of a letter response you provided at the request of Jennie Post, a
colleague of mine, in behalf of the owners of this property, Steven and Mary Lynn
Tachon. I have also enclosed the response of Brian Standing's Density Study requested
by Jennie Post at the same time as yours, which emphatically supports your response.
Jennie and I believe we understand both your and Brian's responses. We interpret these
responses to say that there are no more splits of any kind left on this property under the
current Town of Oregon Land Use Plan or the current Zoning Laws. To carry this
further, we believe it is highly unlikely the current zoning will be changed without a
change in the Town of Oregon Land Use Plan. We have expressed this opinion to both
the Tachons and members of the Oregon Town Board & Plan Commission and believe
everyone has at least been told that it is probably virtually impossible to get another split
for a residential property from these parcels at this time and under the current
circumstances.
On the other hand, I believe everyone is aware that the Town of Oregon is currently
working on changes in their Land Use Plan with the apparent intention of allowing more
residential splits in the future. The Tachons for various reasons need to sell at least a
portion of this property and their house but, of course, would like to take advantage of
any possible present or future splits to maximize the value of their property. The Tachons
are also getting opinions from various Town Board members which appear to conflict
with our interpretations of the letter opinions from you and Brian.
