<br /> This group consisted of primarily newly retired people. They were moderately involved in their
<br /> communities, but did less volunteer work than the first group. Only two were familiar with
<br /> Hospice. Of the 13 participants, 9 were women and 4 were men.
<br /> Alta, retired, lives with her husband, volunteers at Oakwood and church, had HospiceCare fifteen
<br /> years ago during her sister's illness
<br /> Howard, recent widower, lives alone with standard poodle, retired UW medical professor, still
<br /> does consulting
<br /> Bonnie, married with adult children, describes herself as a "recovering attorney", works part
<br /> time with Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice, self employed consultant
<br /> Mary Pat, married with two children, works part time, volunteers as a child advocate with Dane
<br /> County Youth Commission, active in Junior League, began the Ronald McDonald grants
<br /> program in this area
<br /> Virginia, married with five grown children, retired interior designer, cares for her husband -- a
<br /> retired architect with Alzheimers, volunteers at the senior center, a past YWCA volunteer
<br /> Carol, married, with two college age boys, retired occupational therapist, past Attic Angels
<br /> Board member, currently on Visiting Nurses Association board
<br /> Dale, recently widowed after 51 years of marriage, with three grown boys, and many
<br /> grandchildren and great-grand children
<br /> Ed, married, with five grandchildren, retired lobbyist, works at Grace Church, spends six months
<br /> a year in Arizona
<br /> Thelma, retired from the Verona schools district, visits nursing homes and works with her church
<br /> Ace, married with grown children, and many grandchildren, retired Lutheran Bishop, active
<br /> Rotarian, served on Hospice Board, now serves on the St. Benedict Board
<br /> Shirley, married to a physician, retired bio-chemist, plays piano in nursing homes
<br /> Mary, married with three adult children and four grandchildren, actively volunteers
<br /> Mary, mother and grandmother, married to a physician, Attic Angels volunteer, used
