They were not active <br /> volunteers and those community activities they did participate in revolved around their churches <br /> or their children's schools. There were 8 women and 2 men. <br /> Tina, married stay-at-home mom to two preschoolers, does not volunteer <br /> Lauri, single, works full time as a sign language interpreter, volunteers for Community-on- <br /> Wheels, Madison Urban Ministry and her church <br /> Connie, married with two teenage children, education consultant for the state, involved in her <br /> children's school district <br /> Phil, married with two children, full time teacher, involved in the Red Cross and his church <br /> Pat, married with three adult children, restaurant and property management background, does <br /> not volunteer, currently provides private care to a disadvantaged adult who is a traveling public <br /> speaker, she does not volunteer <br /> Connie, has two children in grade school, part-time program analyst, involved in church <br /> activities <br /> Lynette, a substitute teacher, returned to graduate school, has two teenage children <br /> Mike, a sales rep for Tombstone Pizza, has two young children and one more due soon, involved <br /> in coaching and teaches religious education classes <br /> Harriett, has three teenage children, volunteer work consists of providing transportation to <br /> shopping areas and doctor's appointments <br /> Jo, married with two young children with special needs, works at the information desk at East <br /> Towne Mall, does not a volunteer <br /> Awareness of Charitable Organizations <br /> Again, the moderator asked participants about their familiarity with several service organizations <br /> in the area so that their awareness and perceptions of each could be compared and contrasted. <br /> Chamberlain Research Consultants <br /> Page 17 <br />
