TOWN OF MIDDLETON
7555 WEST OLD SAUK ROAD
VERONA, WI 53593
December 2, 1997
Mr.Norbert Scribner,
Authorized Representative
Land Division Review
Planning&Development
City-County Building,Room 116
Madison,WI 53709
Dear Mr. Scribner:
The Town of Middleton Board of Supervisors, acting in a legally noticed and convened
meeting on December 1, 1997,rejected the Conditional Use Permit Application submitted by
David and Lori Kane of Twin Valley Road.
7. DAVID AND LORUCANE REOUEST FOR CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT
Lori Kane appeared before theeard and explained that the request is for a CUP for a limited
family business, a beauty salon.'Kane indicated that she had met with the neighboring property
owners as requested by the Board in an attempt to gain agreement concerning the conditions
which would apply to the property. Kane indicated that no agreement had been reached.
Ms. Kane presented a petition bearing the signatures of several individuals who had no
objection to the CUP (see Attachment C). The Administrator presented several pieces of
correspondence from Mr. and Mrs. Frank Church opposing the CUP(see Attachment D). In
addition, Robert Anders spoke in opposition to the CUP.
Chairman Tallard moved, seconded by Supervisor Held to disapprove the Conditional Use
Permit. During discussion on the motion, several Board members noted the basis for their
position as noted below:
Chairman Tallard: Has consistently opposed spot zoning or spot use in neighborhoods
which are residential. In addition, it's wrong to establish the
business and then seek approval after the fact, particularly when
building permits weren't issued.
1
