extraction area map." Past practice at the County level suggests that the entire,
extraction site should be fenced with(at a minimum) a woven wire fence with one
strand of barbed wire on the top, with a total height of not less than five feet. If you do
not propose to fence the entire area,we will need some justification why the entire area
need not be fenced.
g) The proposed location of crushing equipment.
3. A SEPARATE reclamation plan map for both the proposed CUP site (as revised by the
town) and the existing non-conforming extraction site. The plan should show final land
contour lines at no greater than two foot intervals, slopes no greater than 3:1, the proposed
use of the property after reclamation, and potential location(s) for Mussen Road after
reclamation.
In addition, the following will be necessary before you can begin any grading or extraction
activities in the CUP area. (There may be other requirements made as conditions of the
conditional use permit.)
1. You will have to submit to the Zoning Division an erosion control plan for the property, and
have an erosion control permit approved. You can contact Dave Lorenz at 267-1541 for
erosion control plan requirements.
2. Because the CUP area includes lands within 1000 feet of Crystal Lake, you will also have to
submit and have approved by the County Board of Adjustment a special exception permit for
earth disturbing activities in a shoreland area. I know that you already applied for special
exception permit earlier in 1997, but the Board of Adjustment denied that request in July.
This is why an entirely new application will be required. The materials required for applying
for a special exception permit are similar to those required for a erosion control permit.
3. You will also need a zoning permit, which you can get from the Zoning Division.
4. According one Town suggested condition, you will have to perform (or have performed) an
archaeological survey of the property. The results of that survey should be submitted to both
the Town and County before you begin extraction in the CUP area.
If you have any questions on this information, please don't hesitate to call me at 266-4021.
Sincerely,
—,4/ —7,_!--1Z---
Mark Roffers
Senior Planner
cc: Jim Gregorius, Zoning Administrator
Steve Reynolds, Assistant Zoning Administrator
Dave Lorenz, Zoning Inspector
Robert Pings, Town of Roxbury Clerk
