adjacent to the borrow pit will be hauled with scrapers. All cut slopes shall be restored at
a 3H:1 V or flatter slopes. There shall be a minimum 25 foot set back from property lines
except at the Wis. D.O.T. right-of-way where the excavation will cross the property line
and some material will be excavated on the right-of-way. A total of approximately 15
acres will be used for the excavation, access road, and settling basins. Scheduling,
erosion control, and traffic control are as stated below.
Schedule of Operations:
Work on the site shall begin in late March 1997. The erosion control devices including
construction of an access road and tracking pad, settling basin, and silt fence shall be
installed before construction (see attached drawings). The 1997 excavation shall
continue throughout the summer of 1997 and be complete including restoration by late
November 1997. The 1998 excavation shall begin in April 1998 and be complete and
the site restored by September 15, 1998 in accordance with the restoration plan.
Daily work hours shall be between 6:00am and 8:00pm, Monday through Saturday. Most
work shall occur between the hours of 6:30am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday with
occasional Saturday work.
Traffic Control:
Traffic Control shall include advance warning signs placed both east and west of the
borrow pit entrance during work hours. Please refer to the enclosed detail showing exact
sign location and spacing. The advance warning signs shall be spaced at 500' intervals
and include:
Road Work Ahead
Be Prepared to Stop
Flagperson Ahead
A temporary entrance permit is required from Wis. D.O.T., Dist. #1 for access to Hwy
12/18. This will be obtained by Hoffman Construction prior to any site work and all
conditions placed on the permit shall be followed.
Flagpersons shall be used as warranted in order to create safe entrances and exits to Hwy
12/18. At this time, only Hwy 112/18 westbound would be controlled by a flagperson;
however, this may change during construction if directed by the Wis.D.O.T. engineer for
safety reasons. In any case, the flagpersons on Hwy 12/18 will not stop traffic, merely
slow traffic to create gaps to enter the highway. As stated in the Wis. D.O.T. contract,
Hoffman Construction cannot interrupt the free flow of traffic on Hwy 12/18.
