11 ,r
COTTAGE GROVE
f 1
VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTNI ENT :
COTTAGE GROVE, WISCONSIN 53527 •
v ;'
October 25, 1994
Lyman Anderson, Chair
Dane County Zoning
210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Madison, WI 53709
Dear Mr. Anderson:
I am writing on behalf of the Cottage Grove Volunteer Fire Department in response
to the request by Supervisor Weckmueller for additional information concerning
the request for a conditional use permit by Deconstruction, Inc.
It is the policy of the Township and Village of Cottage Grove that the CG Fire
Department review all of the subdivision developments, site plans for commercial
development and any other reviews which these entities deem necessary and I have
been delegate that reviewing authority. At this point in time, I have not been
given any materials relating to the Deconstruction, Inc. project to review. I
cannot respond to your request for additional information as I do not know the
types of structures to be built; the type of equipment to be used at the
facility; if the equipment will be housed inside or outside of the buildings;
where the buildings or equipment will be located on the site, or the types of
materials which will be collected and stored.
Under normal circumstances, the review process would allow for review by the Fire
Department, but because of the request for expedited review by Deconstruction,
Inc. , we were not afforded this opportunity. Until we know the type and layout
of the buildings along with the types of recyclable materials to be handled by
this facility, we cannot make a determination as to how to handle a situation
like this or the potential hazards related to it. At a minimum, we would like
a site plan, drawn to scale, identifying the buildings, location and size of the
buildings, identifying the items to be recycled, storage of these materials/items
and routes for access to the buildings.
I hope this will assist you in your decision making process. I cannot support
a conditional use permit for Deconstruction, Inc. with all of these unknowns.
Please feel free to contact me at home (839-5009) or work (257-7313) if I can be
of further assistance.
Sincerely,
. eS
Mar A. Severson
Fire Chief
