2. EXCAVATION <br /> 2.1. WisDOT Section 205 shall be modified as follows. Excavation will be unclassified. Contractor will <br /> be required to excavate the material to the lines and grades shown or as directed by the <br /> Owner,whatever the nature of material that is encountered. <br /> 3. INCIDENTAL WORK <br /> 3.1. Items of work for which no pay items are included in the bid proposal shall be considered as <br /> incidental expense and no separate payment will be made therefore. Incidental items include, <br /> but are not limited to the following: <br /> 3.1.1.Maintaining access to private property <br /> 3.1.2.Street sweeping <br /> 3.1.3.Protection of trees and utilities during construction <br /> 3.1.4.Restoration or replacement of culverts or other drainage courses or structures other than <br /> those crossing a public street,or as shown on the Plans <br /> 3.1.5.Construction snow(safety)fence <br /> 3.1.6.Traffic Control fencing, barriers, and signage <br /> 3.1.7.Work or equipment time required to free embedded equipment <br /> 3.1.8.Maintenance, protection, replacement and/or restoration of poles and utilities <br /> 4. LOG PLACEMENT <br /> 4.1. This Section describes the work necessary for furnishing and installing Large Wood, Logs and <br /> Large Wood, and Rootwads for watercourse construction as shown in the contract documents. <br /> The work shall include all materials, labor,tools,transportation, and equipment required for <br /> placing Large Wood as shown on the plans or as directed by the engineer. <br /> 4.2. LARGE WOOD-LOGS AND LARGE WOOD-ROOTWADS <br /> 4.2.1.Logs shall be white pine, red pine, cedar or oak at least 15 feet in length measured from <br /> base to top, DBH 12" minimum.Alternative species must be pre-approved by the Engineer <br /> prior to acquisition. <br /> 4.2.2.Rootwads shall be white pine, red pine, cedar or oak logs at least 15 feet in length <br /> measured from base to top, DBH 12" minimum, rootwads 4 feet minimum diameter,with <br /> the root ball still attached. Alternative species must be pre-approved by the Engineer prior <br /> to acquisition. <br /> 4.2.3.Logs should be cleaned of secondary branches and include only the main trunk and any <br /> associated forks. <br /> 4.2.4.At least 50%of the total number of large wood material must contain intact rootwads. <br /> 4.2.5.Logs should be recently harvested or in a 100%rot free condition. <br /> 4.2.6.Any deviation in size, species or quality must be pre-approved by the Engineer. <br />
