Cam` 11 L,7
AVRES
ASSOCIATES
July 22, 1992
Thomas E. Wohileber, Director of Business Services
Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District
7106 South Avenue
Middleton, Wisconsin 53562
Re: Airport Road Property
Subsurface Wastewater Infiltration System (SWIS) Feasibility
• Dear Mr. Wohileber:
The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School district is considering purchase of
land for construction of a grade school . The grade school will have a core
population of 500 students. Prior to the actual purchase, your office
requested our services in assessing the site's soil suitability for onsite
wastewater treatment. This letter report presents results and conclusions of
our investigations.
Our evaluation included review of available resource materials and field soil
investigations. United States Geological Survey hydrologic investigations
atlases and 7.5 minute quadrangle maps were reviewed. Existing information of
soil conditions in the area was also reviewed. Sources of information
included the Soil Survey of Dane County and applicable Dane County Department
of Public Health records.
Soil conditions of the southern third of the site, or approximately 15 acres
of the 40 acre parcel were assessed through observation and interpretation of
soil profiles exposed in backhoe test pits. Soil profiles were described
using United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conversation Service
nomenclature. Soil properties described include texture, structure,
consistence, density, color, and mottling. Eight test pits were excavated by
backhoe on July 16, 1992, with locations shown on the attached site plan.
Owen Ares %1 Assoc,a•es inc arptrdlr.wp
Engineers/ Photogrammetrists/ Scientists/Surveyors 4153.00
2445 Dir. .
