Brooklyn's 25 mph limit begins 200 feet north of Douglas Drive. • A "no passing" zone is marked for southbound traffic as it approaches the Village of Brooklyn. A northbound "no passing" begins just past the current farm driveway. Anticipated Use • It is projected that approximately 125,000 tons of aggregate per year would be produced and transported from the site. • Material would be trucked along CTH "MM". • This projected volume translates to 6,250 loads per year, or 12,500 trips. • Assuming that 70 percent would be hauled between mid-April and mid-October, there would be 8,750 trips generated in a 6-month period. Current Traffic The following data was obtained through use of a Jamar traffic analyzer set II Iv approximately 380 north of the present farm driveway. Data was collected from 12 pm Thursday, July 3, 2003 through 9 am Friday, July 11, 2003. • Overall average daily traffic (ADT) was 5,080. • Weekday ADT was 5,730 - 2,880 northbound and 2,850 southbound. • A sharp northbound peak occurred between 7 am and 9 am, averaging 385 vehicles per hour — about 1 every 6 seconds. There was comparatively much less traffic southbound in the morning, typically less than 100 per hour. The maximum occurred on Wednesday between 11 am and 12 pm with 118 vehicles counted. • Northbound afternoon traffic was fairly steady at less than 150 per hour. There was no afternoon peak northbound. Southbound averaged around 160 per hour then peaked between 5 pm and 7 pm with a weekday average of 385 vehicles per hour. • Weekend ADT was approximately 900 less than weekday — 1,960 northbound and 2,090 southbound. See Exhibit A for a summary of the traffic volumes. • Average speed northbound was 54 mph, southbound 53 mph. • 85th percentile northbound was 60 mph, southbound 59 mph. • Passenger vehicles accounted for over 90 percent of the total traffic. • On weekdays, 3.5 percent were construction-type vehicles and 3.6 percent semis. • Total truck traffic was approximately 7.1 percent weekdays and 5.0 percent on tro' weekends.
