CANE COUNTY #2
HR3I-I WA,Y DEPARTMENT
2302 Fish Hatchery Road, Madison, Wisconsin 53713 F
phone: 266-4261
November 4 , 1991
Don Knighton, Project Manager
PDG Architects - Contractors
50 West 990 South
Brigham City, Utah 84302
Dear Mr . Knighton:
RE: Flying J" Plaza , CTH "V" and CTH "I"
Town of Vienna, Wisconsin
We have reviewed your proposed plans and, based on our
preliminary study, we believe significant highway improvements
are required on CTH "V" , CTH "I" , and the I-90/94 interchange
to safely handle the increased traffic generated by this
facility.
Our brief analysis consisted of combining the traffic
information you furnished us with present volumes and recent
historical traffic increases in this area. Our analysis
indicates that additional lanes together with traffic control
measures will be needed to accommodate the increased demand.
The number of accesses shown on your proposed site plan is not
acceptable. Our recommendation would be no entrances on CTH
"V" (any proposed access would not meet the requirements of our
Access Ordinance ) and a maximum of two entrances on CTH "I " .
Unfortunately, we lack information on what is planned for the
remainder of the property and a timetable for that development.
This data is important so that we can explore future shared
access points and establish a convenient, well planned, and
safe access scheme.
At this time, without a detailed analysis , it appears that a
four-lane facility with protected turn lanes on both CTH "V"
and CTH "I " and a signal installation at their intersection
will be needed.
