Ms. Helen Hensen 3.
Added Water Usage
Well Normal Water Use Maximum Water Use Period of Principal
Gallons Per Dav Gallons Per Day Operation Water Usage
A 50 100 Daily Sanitary and
Domestic
Uses
001 288,000 576,000 As needed Gravel
washing
operation,
pond filling
The gravel washing well will be used to initially fill the settling basins.
During operation water will be recycled through the settling basins and the
well will be used to make up wash water on an as needed basis. The settling
basins shall be designed to conserve water as much as possible.
The rate of water withdrawal may have a significant impact on the nearby
public utility well in Marshall. Continuous operation of the pump on a daily
basis will not be allowed. The pump may be operated for 12 hours and then
turned off for 12 hours. This type of operation will allow the aquifer to
rebound after each use and the overall impact on the aquifer will be reduced.
Proximal Public Utility Well: The nearest well serving a public utility is
located in Marshall approximately 4000 feet northeast of the proposed gravel
washing well.
Well/Contamination Proximity: There are no reported sanitary landfills within
1200 feet of the proposed gravel washing well.
CONDITIONAL APPROVAL
Because the operation of the high capacity water supply is expected to cause a
reduction in groundwater availability to the nearest public utility well, the
proposed construction and operation of the gravel washing well is hereby
approved, as described in this approval, subject to the conditions noted
below. The Department reserves the authority to limit pumpage from the well
in any amount necessary to eliminate excessive drawdown in the nearby public
utility well. If the operation of the well adversely affects the operation of
any private wells on neighboring properties, this Department approval will not
negate the protection to which private well owners are entitled under
Wisconsin case law relating to groundwater. Approval by the Department does
not relieve the property owner or well operator of any liability which may
result from injury or damage suffered by any person upon operation of the
well. You should also be aware that the Department has the authority to
require either the alteration or the decommissioning, relocation, and
reconstruction of the existing low capacity water supply well if, during any
future inspection of the well, the Department determines such work is required
for compliance with the current requirements of Chapter NR 112, Wis. Adm.
Code. If construction has not commenced within two years from the date of
this letter, this approval shall become void. After two years, therefore, a
new application must be made for approval of the plans and specifications
before any construction work is undertaken.
