ORBITAL TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION
Orbital Technologies Corporation (ORBITEC) is an aerospace company with its
headquarters located at 1212 Fourier Drive Madison, WI 53717. The company was
founded by three Wisconsin engineers in their garages and has grown to become a
nationally recognized aerospace system, subsystem and component provider. The
company currently employs approximately ninety employees, the bulk of which are
aerospace and/or high technology engineers.
ORBITEC has designed and developed aerospace products over the past twenty-
five years for myriad household names in the aerospace industry. We have a reputation
for agile development and production which has been made possible by our ability to test
and qualify our products in Dane County without having to rely heavily on external sources
outside of Wisconsin. This agility is threatened by the loss of our test site located on the
former Badger Ammunition Plant acreage near Baraboo, WI. In 2014, 1500 acres was
transferred to the Ho-Chunk Nation which encapsulates ORBITEC's experimental design
space. To date, Ho-Chunk has not approved a long term lease to ORBITEC for its
laboratory activities. To avoid disruption in our developments for key customers,
ORBITEC is looking at options to relocate our testing facilities to a long-term, compatible
site. After extensive review of several potential sites including safety and environmental
assessments by professional experts, ORBITEC has determined that its best alternative
site is the 4710 Cedar Hill Lane site.
