MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE DANE COUNTY <br /> • PARK COMMISSION <br /> HELD ON Wed. , November 9 , 19 88 <br /> AT 4:00 p.m. <br /> The following members were present: Lewis, Morton, Dohm, Everson, Hills-Meyer, <br /> Femrite, and Lunney. <br /> Others present: Presny, Mueller, LePine, Werner, Terrill, Phelps, and Collins <br /> Chair Dohm called the meeting to order at 4:10 p.m. Minutes of the October 12 <br /> meeting were reviewed. Moved by Lunney, seconded by Lewis, to approve the <br /> minutes as:presented. Motion carried 6-0. <br /> ** Ord. Amdt. 21, 1988-89 - Amending Ch. 53, Relating to Range of Forfeitures <br /> for Possession of Controlled Substance in County Park. Moved by Lunney, <br /> seconded by Everson, to recommend Ord. Arndt. 21 to the County Board for adoptio. . <br /> Motion carried 7-0. <br /> County Executive Rick Phelps addressed the Commission, enumerating the budget <br /> process for the County and, specifically, the Parks budget. Specific items <br /> discussed were the Land Acquisitions account, Environmental Capital account, <br /> Kegonsa Boat Launch status, relationships with Lakes & Watershed Commission, <br /> Public Works Committee, and Real Estate & Space Needs Committee, and priorities <br /> for Lakeview Woods and others. A .number of questions were asked, and a well-ro nde <br /> discussion concluded the presentation. <br /> The commission thanked Mr. Phelps and indicated a desire to communicate on <br /> a frequent basis to coordinate various programs and activities. <br /> Chair Dohm_ ct"reaa letter thanking Ken LePine for coordinating efforts with <br /> the Youth Restitution Program. <br /> Staff reviewed the 1989 Department budget with the Commission highlighting <br /> the major categories and the implications. Several questions were asked <br /> for clarification. It was agreed the budget limited however adequate to <br /> utilize the personnel and equipment efficiently. <br /> A staff-prepared sheet was circulated to give the Commission information <br /> on the New Local Park Aids funding program which was authorized by the State <br /> Legislature. Following approval of the County budget, staff will submit <br /> applications for Capital Project funding. <br /> Commission discussed their interest in the Hostzman E-Way parcel and encouraged • <br /> all concerned to make approaches to attempt a possible acquisition. More infor <br /> mation to folow. <br /> Presny updated the commission on the Kegonsa Boat Launch appraised value. <br /> Appraised value is established at $40,000. Commission wishes to establish <br /> 005-2(1/88) <br /> • <br />
