', •
Page 2
The area residents near the landfill presented the Town Board with a list of
questions, which the Board said they would answer in writing at a later date.
(questions attached)
The Town has received notice that proper signatures were not obtained for
their burning permit from the DNR and that they have 30 days to obtain the
needed signature. (attached) One of the reasons they believe this site is
so good is because they can also burn there.
They were asked about the reclamation plans for this site, and when they "
would start. One Board member moved to address this issue, but there was
no second. They have no plans or budget money for the reclamation of this
site.
The Town Board also has not answered the questions from the Zoning Committee.
In view of all the unanswered questions and the establishment of the committee
to look at alternative sites, I feel this issue is not ready for County Board
action and I would ask that the Zoning Committee hold this issue until after
the site committee has reported back to the Town Board. The site committe is
to look for alternative sites, the advantages and disadvantages and the cost
of each.
When all questions have been answered and all sites have been reviewed and
a closure plan for the old landfill have been established, I feel then would
be the time to review the site proposed for zoning changes.
After a site is selected, and the plan of operation has been established
I feel that there should be some assurances that it will be run according
to DNR and County specifications. I believe the Zoning Committee should
have a review mechanism to look at it in a few years to insure that it is
being run according to plans.
I believe everybody should have a fair opportunity, both the Town Board to
prove that they can run a good operation and the people of the area to have
the assurance that it will be run orderly and be esthetically pleasing.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter.
Sincerely,
Stephenie A.
