•
November 11, 1986
Dane County Agriculture and
Zoning Committee
Lyman Anderson, Chairman
City-County Building
Madison WI
Re: Petition #3779 by Tom and Linda
Junck to rezone from R-1 to LC-1
Dear 1.ir Anderson and Committee Members ,
We have been residents of Horseshoe Bend for nine years and
we share a common lot line of over 1300 feet with Tom and Linda
Junck.
We felt fortunate to find such an attractive suburban cluster
of homes in which to settle , with congenial people and park-like
yards backed by Dane County woods .
We were aware that Jr Junck was self-employed as an electri-
cal contractor, and that his wife Linda served as his able business
partner. However, the first years of our acquaintance , there was
no evidence of a business except for a well-kept blue van with the
logo of the company in the driveway.
About four years ago Mr Junck asked us to not object to his
application to put up a storage building "slightly larger" than
the garden shed he had. He explained that it was needed to store
articles from his zarage so that he could shelter his cars , and
we were told that it would not be used for other than storage .
He mentioned that it would be placed on the far corner of his lot
over a slight rise in the land and would be "hardly noticeable"
from our yard. Shortly thereafter, we came home to find a build-
ing approximately 30 x 40, and placed as near to our lot line as
it was legal to build An overhead garage door was added, a drive-
way, electricity, then a heating stove and chimney and a telephone
extension. Soon a hydraulic bucket truck was refurbished and added
. . .then salvage trucks for parts and two salvage autos were parked
by the building.
We were misled about the size of tie building, the location,
and the use of the building---and we were angry with ourselves for
not requesting a copy of the building perrr:it before being so
accomodating. But we had not had previous occasion to distrust
Mr Junck.
