401 Lincoln Ave.
Stoughton, WI 53589
May 26, 1987
Dane County Agriculture, Environment
and Land Records Committee
City-County Building
Madison, WI 53709
Attention : Lyman Anderson, Chairman
Dear Mr. Anderson:
Sixteen years ago, Walter Furseth entered into an agree-
ment to sell his farm to B. L. Petty. B. L. Petty agreed to
buy approximately five acres per year. When Walter Furseth
died, B. L. Petty continued to buy from the Walter Furseth
Estate. In order for the Walter Furseth Estate to continue
to give deeds , it is necessary to get certified surveys as
needed. In the event that the Walter Furseth Estate would be
unable to give deeds, they would lose $52 , 000.00, which is the
balance of their agreement .
For the past few years, this land has been rented for a
total of $600. 00 per year . The taxes on this land are $550. 56 .
When you divide $49.44 among sixteen heirs , each of the heirs
would receive $3 . 09 per year. When you consider bookkeeping,
attorneys fees , etc. , the estate will continue to lose money
unless they are permitted to fulfill their agreement with
B. L. Petty. One of the reasons the estate is losing money
is because the tillable acreage is so small in comparison to
the total acres . Most of the land is wooded and three acres
designated wetland. These have no value as cropland.
Very truly yours ,
avvvadi. t.L4A/111)
Arnold Furseth
Representative ofWalter
Furseth Estate
Copy to: William Fleck
Norbert Scribner
B.
