Montgomery Associates 1tV <br /> .-��. <br /> Resource Solutions <br /> December 15,2017 <br /> Mr.Hans Hilbert <br /> Dane County Zoning <br /> Room 116,City-County Building <br /> 210 Martin Luther King Jr.Blvd <br /> Madison,WI 53703 <br /> Re: Underground Electric Utility Development within FEMA Mapped 100-year Floodplain Boundary <br /> Alliant Energy-Old CTH PB Bridge Replacement <br /> Section 14 of Township 06 N Range 08 E <br /> Alliant WR Number:4101144 <br /> MARS Project Number: 1530-244 <br /> VIA: COURIER <br /> Dear Mr.Hilbert: <br /> On behalf of Alliant Energy/Wisconsin Power&Light(WPL),Montgomery Associates:Resource <br /> Solutions(MARS)has prepared floodplain development application materials for a proposed <br /> underground electric line relocation project located in the Town of Verona,Dane County,Wisconsin(see <br /> attached figure).The project will involve the construction of approximately 200 linear feet of underground <br /> electric line to accommodate an upcoming bridge replacement project.The electric line will be installed via <br /> horizontal directional drilling.Bore pits excavated for the installation of the electric line will be within the <br /> regulatory floodplain.Bore pits excavated for the project will be restored to existing topography and <br /> vegetative conditions.The intent of this submittal is to apply for County Floodplain Development permit <br /> coverage for the project. <br /> Based on our previous communications,a shoreland zoning permit is not required for this project.Dane <br /> County Shoreland Erosion Control permit application submittal materials have been submitted under <br /> separate cover,as the project involves land disturbance within 300 feet of a mapped waterway. <br /> Construction Schedule <br /> Pending approval of applicable permits, the anticipated construction schedule is planned to start <br /> January 2,2018 with project completion by January 29, 2018. Permanent restoration will be complete <br /> by May 15,2018. <br /> Floodplain Impacts <br /> Bore pits will be excavated within the FEMA mapped floodplain,thus the project is subject to Dane <br /> County Floodplain Zoning Ordinance. This includes demonstrating no appreciable obstruction to flow in <br /> the 100-year flood or loss of storage in the floodplain due to the project.Since the project will be restored <br /> to the existing topography and vegetative cover,the project will not obstruct flow,nor will it reduce <br /> floodplain storage.The electric line will be sealed within conduit and thereby protected against damages <br /> from flooding.The attached figure shows the locations of the proposed electric line and bore pits. <br /> 119 South Main Street • Cottage Grove.
