' Subsurface Exploration and Foundation Evaluation
Proposed Golden Oil Refueling Station
• Stoughton, Wisconsin
PSI Project No. 0092822
Page 1
INTRODUCTION
General
This report presents the results of the subsurface exploration and foundation evaluation for the
proposed Golden Oil Refueling Station in Stoughton, Wisconsin. The work was performed for
Keller Construction at the request of Mr. Dave Utek.
Purpose
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the subsurface conditions at specific boring
locations on the site, and to establish parameters for use by the design engineers and
architects in preparing the foundation, floor slab, pavement, and underground stormwater
basin for the proposed project. A gas station and auto service center currently occupy the
site, and it should be noted that the PSI was not retained to and has not performed any
evaluation of potential environmental related concerns.
Scope
The scope of services included a site reconnaissance, the subsurface exploration, a
determination of soil characteristics by field and laboratory testing, and an evaluation and
analysis of the data obtained. The scope of the field work, including the number, depth, and
locations of the borings was determined by PSI and the client.
Authorization
The description of services and authorization to perform this subsurface exploration and
analysis were in the form of a signed acceptance copy of PSI Proposal No. 0092-214903,
dated June 22, 2017. The general conditions for the performance of the work were referenced
in the proposal. This report has been prepared on behalf of, and exclusively for the use of
Keller Construction. The information contained in this report may not be relied upon by any
other parties without the express written consent of PSI, and acceptance by such parties of
PSI' General Conditions.
SITE AND PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Site Features
The project site is located at 2763 County Highway N, in Stoughton, Wisconsin. At the time of
exploration, the approximate 5.71-acre site was occupied by Amston Auto Sales and an
Arbys/BP combined restaurant/gas station. The gas station is located on the north side of the
site and the auto shop is located on the south side. Both existing structures consist of one-
story buildings with associated concrete, pavement, and gravel parking areas. The gas station
has pumps with fuel canopies to the east of the existing building, and underground storage
tanks on the west side of the existing building. To the west of the site, there is a thin strip of
wooded land followed by an agricultural field. A truck stop gas station is located to the east of
the site, across County Highway N. To the north of the site, there is a fireworks store. To the
