SECTION 10.16 GENERAL PROVISIONS <br />SECTION 10.17. SETBACK REGULATIONS <br />directory signs may be placed and on the same highway as the place advertised <br />is located such.sign shall be no more than 5 miles from the place advertised <br />and the minimum distance between signs shall be 500 feet. When the place <br />' advertised is'on a highway other than that on which the sign is located, the <br />maximum distance between the place advertised and the sign shall be 12 air- <br />line miles, the maximum distance from the intersection shall be 5 miles, the <br />minimum distance between signs shall be 500 feet, the minimum distance from <br />the intersection shall be as provided in (a) hereinabove. There may be no <br />mare than one such sign in each approaching direction when a sign is on the <br />same highway as the place advertised; if the place advertised is on a highway <br />other than the sign there may be one sign in each of the approaching directions <br />toward the intersection where a turn is to be made; if more than two'roads <br />must be traveled to reach the place advertised then there may be one sign in <br />each of the approaching directions for each intersection. <br />(c) On- premise signs located on the interstate system shall comply with <br />the requirements of Section 81.30 of the statutes and the rules of the state <br />highway comission. On other highways such signs shall identify the name and <br />nature of the business, the products sold or services offered, but may not <br />advertise any product or service not available at the site on which the sign <br />is located. <br />(d) No sign of any kind may be so placed as to obscure or obstruct the <br />vision of an official highway sign or marker, a stop and go signal or railroad <br />crossing signal. <br />(e) No sign may be attached to a tree, fence or fence post and may not be <br />painted on rocks or other natural objects. <br />(f) Each sign shall have attached to it a suitable tag identifying the <br />ownership of the sign. <br />(g) Application for permits for directory signs shall show the copy to be <br />placed on such sign, and no change shall be made in this copy to designate a <br />different business, or different location of the business, until a new permit <br />has been applied for and issued. <br />Section 7, Section IX of the ordinance of July 20, 1938, the title to <br />which is recited in the title to this ordinance, is hereby renumbered to be <br />Section 10.17, and as so renumbered is amended to read: <br />i 10.17 SETBACK REGULATIONS <br />For the purpose of determining the distance buildings and other structures <br />shall be set back from streets and highways, the streets and highways in Dane <br />County are divided into the following classes: <br />31 <br />
